John Milano currently serves as Vice President, Solution Engineering at Bridge Connector. With over a decade of experience in health IT in both inpatient and outpatient settings, he is a self-professed, rare mix of “extroverted geek,” coupled with solid business acumen across a multitude of specialties and modalities. John’s expertise with integrations has encompassed clinical customer support, implementation, technical project management, development and technical pre-sales.
Most recently, he worked at HCA IT&S where he was the team lead for the Medicity Grid integration platform, used by 23,000 providers. Prior, John rose through the ranks at MEDHOST, the EHR serving more than 1,000 hospitals. In his role as a Senior Sales Engineer, he exceeded his year one quota of $25 million, before being promoted into technical project management, then managing interface and configuration services. As manager of integration and interoperability development, he created and executed product roadmaps including generating 19 public-facing APIs to meet Meaningful Use Stage 3 requirements. John began his health care IT career in customer support, which he said has enabled him to “never lose focus of the customer” and create products that are always valuable, affordable and easy to implement for customers. He has also held positions at The Rehab Documentation Company, Healthcare Management Systems, Medkinetics and Emdeon (now Change Healthcare).
In his spare time, John enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys, doing activities outdoors like canoeing and backpacking, and following the Nashville Predators. He firmly believes that interoperability is the missing link that can drive more positive patient outcomes and increase the quality of care across the entire health care continuum.
